UAE Minister of Health and Prevention Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais and Israel's Health Minister Yaakov Litzman discussed cooperation in pharmaceuticals, medical research, and COVID-19 in a telephone call.
They discussed frameworks for cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccine trials, and treatment for the coronavirus.
“Due to the circumstances imposed by the pandemic, there must be concerted efforts in the field of medical research,” Owais stated.
This discussion follows a peace deal agreed to by Israel and the UAE on August 13, following an accord among US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed Bin Zayed.
In addition to the health sector, the two countries would be signing bilateral agreements related to investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunication, technology, energy, culture, environment and other sectors of joint interest.
