Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz held telephone talks on Wednesday with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Discussions focused on the G20’s efforts to combat the novel coronavirus pandemic.
King Salman stressed that as president of the G20 for 2020, Saudi Arabia is keen on working with the group to serve the people of the world and the global economy and ease the impact of the pandemic.
For his part, Xi congratulated King Salman on the achievements of the G20 meetings, which he said played a central role in confronting the challenges caused by the global outbreak.
He also underlined the pivotal role Saudi Arabia played in coordinating between G20 members.
King Salman and the Chinese leader also discussed the strategic relations between Riyadh and Beijing and ways to develop them in various fields.
Earlier, King Salman discussed efforts to combat the pandemic with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The King also made a phone call to German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
During the call, they discussed the consolidated efforts within the meetings of the G20 countries to overcome the repercussions of the pandemic and return to normal life.
For her part, Merkel valued the Kingdom's efforts in preparing and managing the G20 meetings, hoping for continued international solidarity to face the effects of the pandemic.
