United Nations envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths held talks in Muscat on Sunday with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi on the ongoing efforts to reach a political settlement in Yemen.
The Oman news agency said the officials discussed the latest developments in Yemen and the UN’s efforts with all parties to reach a political settlement.
Oman is seen as a mediator that the UN and international community often resort to reach an agreement to end the Yemen war.
Oman has played an active role in bridging divides between the various Yemeni rivals and has played a behind-the-scenes role in communicating with the Iran-backed Houthi militias, who have relations with Muscat.
