Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi renewed his country’s keenness to implement the Riyadh Agreement and to eliminate the Iranian-backed coup, stressing need to achieve a just peace and restore state institutions from the grip of militias.
“The legitimacy insists on ending the coup project, and all partition projects that have confiscated the idea of the state and destroyed its institutions,” Hadi said in a speech marking the 53rd Anniversary of the National Independence Festivity celebrated on November 30.
“We proceeded with utmost care towards peace initiatives, and our hands remained sincerely extended to it,” he explained.
The President added that his government has tried to bridge the gap created by Houthi militia in the country's body, adding that since the National Dialogue, it has done every effort to engage this insurgent group which is obsessed with claims to have divine right to rule. While the Yemeni president accused Houthis of "treachery," he said that his country yearns for a just, comprehensive peace, which is built on solid foundations.
“We have acted responsibly throughout all peace initiatives, we repeatedly stated that we're eagerly looking forward to establishing fair and comprehensive peace that is based on solid foundations that do not bear seeds of conflict in the future, peace that ensures rights, protect the human being dignity and build the state,” he stated.
With regard to the path of implementing the “Riyadh Agreement” between the legitimate government and the Southern Transitional Council, Hadi said his team opted for the path of healing the Yemeni rift, and the attempts to unify the national ranks in order to restore and build the state and its national institutions and unify efforts around this noble goal.
“We went to Riyadh Agreement sponsored by the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and we're going to keep on this safe track to implement Riyadh Agreement aiming to unite the ranks around the national proposal, defuse tension, disputes, and conflict in order to bring the country into a new era of freedom, construction, growth, and stability,” he said.
Hadi promised that he would continue with all firmness in defeating the Iranian-backed Houthi project.
“We are very seriously determined to restore the independent and capable state, build its institutions, and address political, economic, health, and social challenges, and we will work to achieve these goals as far as our capabilities bear,” he said.
