President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that all the government's efforts are focused on easing the burden on the people in wake of the economic sanctions imposed on Iran.
Speaking before the government's Economic Coordination Board, he said the government's priority is to provide basic commodities to improve livelihoods and support the lower income classes.
Mehr News Agency quoted Rouhani as saying that controlling the fluctuations of the local market and preventing the rise in prices of basic commodities and the rate of inflation in the country and creating relative prosperity in society is one of the most important goals of the government.
He also stressed that "the overall policy of providing foreign currency and allocating it to basic commodities should not be a ground for corruption."
The Ministries of Industry, Agriculture Jihad and other relevant agencies have been tasked with a detailed plan and to coordinate with each other to control and manage the prices of goods accurately.
“Controlling the fluctuations of the domestic market and preventing the increase of prices of basic goods, inflation rate in the country and creating relative prosperity in society are the most important goals of the government,” he said.
