Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz spoke with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu on Wednesday over phone.
The two officials discussed the need to contend with the bias apparent in the International Criminal Court.
They also expressed their commitment to working together to preserve the capacity of states to protect themselves against terrorism, according to I24NEWS.
In a terse statement, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation revealed that both sides discussed “the issues of Russian-Israeli interaction in ensuring stability in the Middle East region.”
RT specified that the phone talk was held upon the Israeli side’s request.
However, the Israeli Defense Ministry didn’t issue a statement following the phone call.
This is the first call between Shoigu and Gantz, who is also the deputy prime minister of Israel.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu discussed regional matters with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday in a phone conversation.
They both agreed on further coordination on various levels.
