Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held talks in Muscat on Wednesday with his Omani counterpart Badr AlBusaidi.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations and efforts to boost them in various fields.

They added that deepening cooperation will benefit their countries, bolster common interests and pave the way for new diverse opportunities in business, investment and tourism.

They also underscored the need to develop cooperation in the energy, technology, transportation, cyber security, health, agriculture and environment fields.

On political affairs, the ministers discussed several regional and international developments, underlining the importance of joint Gulf work within the Gulf Cooperation Council.

They highlighted the AlUla signed earlier this year to resolve the Gulf rift and pledged to support all efforts aimed at consolidating security, stability and peace in the region and world.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed a United Nations General Assembly resolution requesting the International Court of Justice to issue a legal advisory opinion regarding Israel’s obligations concerning the activities of the UN and other states in support of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The resolution was sponsored by Norway in partnership with Saudi Arabia and several other countries.

The resolution, aimed at supporting and assisting the Palestinian people under the current circumstances, reflects a clear international consensus on the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state, the ministry said.

It added that the Kingdom appreciates the positive stance of the countries that voted in favor of the resolution.
