The exhibition “AlUla - A Journey Through Time” in Milan, Italy, sheds light on the historical and cultural heritage of the Saudi city through a photography exhibition by Robert Polidori.
The 30-panel exhibition introduces visitors to a region known for its wealth of historical and cultural sites and for hosting an array of ancient civilizations such as the kingdoms of Lahyan, Dadaan, Nabateans and even the Romans.
The Saudi Governorate of AlUla, with the support of the municipality of Milan and in collaboration with the Saudi embassy in Italy, will offer the public a chance to witness the region’s cultural richness through Polidori's exhibition, which will run until March 28, allowing visitors to embark on a fascinating journey through time.
Visitors will also have access to digital content through QR codes placed in the photo captions.
Prince Faisal bin Sattam bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi ambassador to Italy, said that the exhibition highlights the immense cultural wealth of AlUla, one of the most important archaeologically significant regions of Saudi Arabia.
He adding that “the exhibition is a great opportunity for Italian citizens to become acquainted with the cultural heritage of the area and witness the beauty of the region. This exhibition will deepen the cultural ties between the peoples of the Arabian Peninsula and Italy, which have been in place for almost 2,000 years.”
Phillip Jones, chief destination management and marketing officer at the Royal Commission for AlUla, commented on the strong historical and cultural ties between AlUla and Italy, saying the exhibition represents a great opportunity for Italian citizens to explore AlUla before visiting the city.
Polidori talked about his experience working in the region, commenting on the unparalleled beauty of the natural environment in AlUla.
“Through my photos, I try to show what I call an emblematic image, encapsulating the entirety of a subject often by showing its details to represent the whole and vice versa,” he said.
