Iraq’s Health and Environment Ministry urged authorities on Monday to extend the night-time curfew in the country from 7 pm to 5 am and impose lockdown on Fridays and Saturdays during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Minister of Health and Environment Hassan Al-Tamimi warned that a total curfew could be imposed on Thursdays if citizens didn't abide by the measures.
The minister said that restaurants will remain open, offering only delivery services and sweets shops will also be allowed to open.
Iraq’s Supreme Committee for Health and National Safety decided on Monday to exclude pharmacies and stores selling foodstuffs, vegetables, and bread, from curfew on Fridays and Saturdays during Ramadan.
