The Saudi Ministry of Health stressed the need to comply with precautionary measures to prevent the outbreak of the COVID-19 during family gatherings and social events.

Saudi authorities reminded citizens and residents of the importance of wearing masks, avoiding handshakes and keeping a safe distance, to limit the spread of the virus and preserve the health and safety of all members of society.

Saudi Arabia continues to register more than 1,000 cases of infections per day. On Monday, the ministry announced 1,109 confirmed cases and the recovery of 1,148 patients, while the number of active cases reached 10,075, including 1,596 in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Madinah region, inaugurated on Monday an inoculation center at Taibah University, which will provide vaccine to the residents of the region, with a daily capacity of 15,000 doses.

Dr. Saad Khosh Hal, Dean of the College of Medicine and General Supervisor of the Vaccine Center at the university, explained that the new center includes 48 clinics staffed by a specialized medical and nursing team, and will operate throughout the day to serve as many people as possible.

In Kuwait, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday that it had detected infections with the Indian mutation, now referred to as the Delta variant.

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, said that the ministry conducted genetic tests to find out the type of mutations prevalent in the country and to open up prospects for cooperation on the international level, with the aim to unify efforts to combat the virus.

Al-Sanad urged citizens and residents to adhere to the precautionary measures, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, in addition to taking the Covid-19 vaccine as the only means to eradicate the virus.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
