The Saudi government reiterated on Tuesday its condemnation of the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen for their continued violation of international laws and norms by their deliberate firing of armed drones towards civilian locations in the Kingdom.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the government meeting that was held virtually from Neom amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

King Salman briefed them on the various meetings and talks he held with various leaders of friendly and brotherly countries in recent days. The discussions were aimed at bolstering bilateral relations, supporting joint Arab work and boosting Saudi Arabia’s pioneering role in international affairs.

The cabinet reviewed Saudi Arabia’s participation at the Arab foreign ministers’ consultative meeting. It also highlighted the statement of the meeting of the 148th Session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that covered steps that have been taken to implement the decisions of the AlUla summit that was held in January.

The cabinet also underscored the joint statement between Saudi Arabia and the United States that expressed their commitment to combating the mounting climate change challenges.

The ministers reviewed the latest preparations to hold the annual Hajj pilgrimage, including the various security, organizational, preventive and service plans. The preparations are aimed at providing the pilgrims with all services that would ensure they have a smooth journey as they perform the holy rituals amid the pandemic.

The cabinet hailed the development in Saudi Arabia in line with Vision 2030, highlighting Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s inauguration on Sunday of several housing and medical projects for Defense Ministry employees.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
