Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Nawaf AI-Ahmad AI-Jaber AI-Sabah met with visiting US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at al-Bayan palace on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Austin relayed President Joe Biden's greetings, who expressed his country's gratitude for Kuwait's humanitarian role in facilitating the safe transit of people from Afghanistan, which helped make the US' evacuation plans a success, according to an Amiri Diwan statement.
Biden also underlined his country's unwavering support for the security and stability of Kuwait, the statement mentioned, KUNA reported.
For his part, Sheikh Nawaf expressed his appreciation for the sentiments, wishing the president the best of health, and his nation, further growth and prosperity.
Austin also separately met with Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber AI-Ali Al-Sabah.
The meetings discussed opportunities for advancing the US-Kuwait partnership.
The officials also exchanged views on regional challenges and latest regional developments.
