UK Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa, James Cleverly stressed on Sunday that the conflict in Yemen “is of great concern and sadness for the United Kingdom.”

“We are constantly talking with all of our international partners to bring this conflict to an end,” he told the official Kuwait news agency (KUNA).

“Restoring security to this country will be the most important factor in stopping the spread of famine and disease,” he added.

He stressed that the UK will continue to work with its partners in the region, starting with Saudi Arabia, to help reach a peaceful solution to the conflict.

He called on the Iran-backed Houthi militias to seriously approach negotiations to end the fighting and end the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Moreover, Cleverly stressed that the UK was committed to the security of Kuwait and other Gulf countries.

The government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson is committed to work with its Gulf partners to ensure the security, stability and prosperity of the region, he added.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) laid the foundation stone for a project to rehabilitate and equip a center for medical and health education in Hama, Syria, under the supervision of the Syrian Ministry of Health.

The ceremony was attended by Director of the KSrelief Office in Jordan and Syria, Dr. Naif Al-Shammari, along with several officials, reported the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday.

Saudi Ambassador to Syria Ghazi Al-Enezi said the project reflects the Kingdom's efforts to support the Syrian people through KSrelief.

He noted that it combines infrastructure development, the provision of medical and educational equipment, and training for healthcare personnel to improve the quality of healthcare and broaden its impact across Syrian governorates.

The project aims to establish a specialized training environment where doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals can update their knowledge and enhance their practical skills. The center also seeks to attract healthcare professionals from across Syria and support healthcare institutions and hospitals by providing them with qualified personnel.

The project is part of the humanitarian initiatives and programs implemented by the Kingdom through KSrelief to support Syria's healthcare sector and improve medical services for patients.
