A Taliban provincial spokesman said a bomb exploded in a mosque during Friday prayers in a town near the eastern Afghanistan city of Jalalabad, wounding 15 people, according to The Associated Press.
Qari Hanif, the government spokesman for Nangarhar Province, said the bomb appeared to have been planted in the mosque in the town of Traili.
ISIS has been waging a campaign of violence in Nangarhar Province, where shootings and bombings against Taliban fighters take place frequently.
Atal Shinwari, a resident of the area, said the blast occurred at around 1:30 p.m. when explosives apparently located in the interior of the mosque detonated, Reuters reported.
A Taliban official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the blast and said casualties were feared but gave no further details.
