Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq held a tripartite meeting and discussed cooperation Sunday on the sidelines of the 12th Sir Bani Yas Forum.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said Egypt's FM Sameh Shoukry held talks with his Jordanian and Iraqi counterparts Ayman Safadi and Fouad Hussein.

The three parties discussed ways of enhancing the relations, and they reviewed the joint projects among them.

Shoukry participated on Sunday in the 12th Sir Bani Yas Forum organized by the UAE, under the auspices of UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Spokesperson said Shoukry’s participation in the forum aims at exchanging viewpoints and holding consultations with senior officials on a set of issues of top priority, especially those related to enhancing peace, security, and stability in the region.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Shoukry met with his Emirati counterpart and discussed the latest developments in the Arab region and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation to address different challenges in the regional and international arenas.

The Egyptian FM asserted the importance of continuing cooperation with the UAE to enhance economic and trade exchange and to attract more Emirati investments to the Egyptian market.

The two ministers also discussed ways to strengthen the role of Arab national security to address the growing challenges at regional and international levels.

Shoukry reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance on supporting the security and stability of the Gulf states.

An Israeli airstrike killed at least eight Palestinians in an apartment in Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza strip on Friday, medics said.

Palestinian health officials told Reuters that Israeli military strikes across the enclave had killed a total of 15 people on Friday.

Mediated ceasefire efforts have yet to secure a deal between Israel and Hamas after more than a year of conflict in the Gaza Strip.

On Thursday, sources close to the discussions, told Reuters that the Arab mediators, Qatar and Egypt, had been able to hammer out some differences but some sticking points remained unresolved and needed more discussion.

Israel started its air and ground assault on Gaza after Hamas-led fighters attacked Israeli communities in October 2023.

Israel says about 100 hostages are still being held by Hamas, but it is unclear how many are alive.

Authorities in Gaza say Israel's military campaign has killed more than 45,000 Palestinians, displaced most of the 2.3 million population and reduced much of the coastal enclave to ruins.
