The Saudi-led Arab coalition said on Monday that it has launched air strikes on Yemen's Sanaa in response to threats.
It announced that it has targeted terrorist leaderships in the northern regions of the capital, which is held by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki said the Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Monday were "war crimes whose perpetrators should be held accountable."
The attacks were also a warning that the Houthis are a threat to regional and international security, he added.
He said the drone attack on the UAE, which was claimed by the Houthis, is a "hostile and cowardly act and flagrant violation of international laws and norms."
Malki accused the militias of deliberately targeting civilians in the attack.
Moreover, he noted that the hostile Houthi escalation and behavior underscores their danger to regional and international security, including international shipping lanes in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and southern Red Sea.
He also cited the Houthis' recent hijacking of a ship off Yemen's Hodeidah, saying it was further evidence of their threat.
The coalition will take the necessary operational procedures to deter the militias' hostile behavior against Saudi Arabia and the UAE, in response to the threat and in order to protect civilians and civilian locations.
