The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, greeted citizens and expatriates in the Kingdom and Muslims all over the world on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by the Acting Minister of Media Majid al-Qasabi, the King said Ramadan is an opportunity to purify the soul and renounce differences of opinion, adding that it is an excellent season for good deeds and obedience to God.

He prayed to God to assist all Muslims to take maximum advantage of the benefits of Ramadan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

“It is from God’s grace upon us that the holy month of Ramadan brings us relief after hardship with the receding of the coronavirus pandemic,” said the King, thanking God for the great success achieved through making tremendous efforts in containing the pandemic and overcoming its adverse effects.

“We are proud that God has honored us with granting the opportunity to serve the Two Holy Mosques and Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the Holy Mosques.”

King Salman also expressed his delight that Saudi Arabia has returned to allow the use of the total capacity of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah after lifting the coronavirus precautionary measures and preventive protocols introduced to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The monarch also thanked the brave soldiers on the Kingdom’s borders, praising their dedication to serving their country and praying to God to bestow them the best reward for their outstanding efforts.

“May Allah accept from us and you our fasting, praying, and good deeds, and grant us success and reward, and may Allah protect our country and all countries of the world from every evil,” concluded the message.

Meanwhile, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman received cables and phone calls of congratulations on Ramadan from the leaders of Islamic countries, which they thanked, asking God to return the blessed occasion to the Islamic nation with good, blessing, and lasting security and stability.

They also sent cables of congratulations to the leaders of Islamic countries on this blessed occasion.

In the cables, the King and the Crown Prince prayed to Allah Almighty to accept all their good deeds and worship and return this blessed occasion to the Islamic nation with further progress and prosperity.

Furthermore, the Custodian received a phone call from King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, congratulating him on the advent of Ramadan.

Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned the decision by the Israeli occupation’s ministerial committee to approve the establishment of 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, considering it a blatant challenge to the international will rejecting settlement activity and a violation of international law, which affirms the illegitimacy of settlements.

In a statement issued Monday, the secretary-general said the continued expansion of illegal settlement activity aims to prevent the establishment of a geographically contiguous Palestinian state and reflects the nature of the Israeli government, which he said is controlled by extremists and settlers, SPA reported.

Aboul Gheit stressed that settlement expansion will not make it legitimate under any circumstances.

He highlighted that the violence practiced by extremist settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank constitutes a form of terrorism carried out under the watch and with the protection of the official institutions of the occupying power.
