The Saudi Cabinet voiced its appreciation of the efforts exerted by United Nations and its Special Envoy Hans Grundberg to reach a truce in Yemen and a comprehensive cessation of military operations inside the war-torn nation and on its borders.

UN efforts align with Saudi Arabia's initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and lift the human suffering of the Yemeni people.

The Cabinet expressed its hope that these efforts will contribute to reaching a political settlement at the intra-Yemeni consultations held under the auspices of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The Cabinet’s remarks came during a session held on Tuesday evening at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, headed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The Cabinet reviewed several reports on the developments of situations in various arenas, citing the international efforts exerted towards them, to maintain security, peace and stability of the region and the world at large.

Moreover, the Cabinet appreciated the security efforts targeting terrorist organizations and their affiliates, financiers and facilitators, citing the contribution of the Presidency of State Security in a unilateral and coordinated manner with the US, represented by the Treasury and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, in classifying 25 names and entities involved in facilitating the financing operations of the Houthi militia, who operate with the support of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, an international network arm aimed at destabilizing Yemen.

At the start of the Cabinet’s session, King Salman uttered praise and thanks to Allah Almighty for all the blessings provided for Muslims, including observing the current holy month of Ramadan, and those provided for this blessed country including the honor of serving the Two Holy Mosques and taking care of pilgrims and Umrah performers.

King Salman also blessed the great success that Saudi Arabia achieved in confronting the pandemic of coronavirus and resisting its effects, an achievement that contributed to the restoration of exploiting the full capacity of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, after lifting the precautionary and preventive measures of the pandemic.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
