Saudi Arabia on Sunday renewed its support for UN efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen.

This came during a meeting between Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al Jaber and UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg in Riyadh.

They discussed joint efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

Al Jaber and Grundberg also affirmed the need to ensure the UN sponsored truce in the war-torn country is a success, with the aim of reaching a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen, and starting the political process between the Yemeni government and Houthis.

They stressed the importance of the Houthis’ commitment to the terms of the current truce and the speedy opening of the crossings in Taiz to alleviate the human suffering there.

They said Houthis must deposit revenues in the Central Bank of Yemen to pay the salaries of civilians.
