United Nations envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg held talks in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday with Diplomatic Adviser to the United Arab Emirates President Dr. Anwar Gargash.

They tackled the latest developments in the Yemeni crisis and efforts to reach a ceasefire to pave the way for a sustainable political solution that would end the conflict and suffering of the people.

Gargash highlighted the UAE’s support for Yemen’s people and Presidential Leadership Council, as well as Grundberg’s efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire and facilitate serious dialogue aimed at resolving the crisis in the country and achieve stability and prosperity, reported the UAE state news agency (WAM).

Gargash also commended the key role of Saudi Arabia in helping resolve the crisis.

Grundberg discussed the outcomes of his recent meetings with relevant local, regional and international parties, lauding the UAE’s related role.

The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY) tweeted that Grundberg discussed with Emirati officials, including Minister of State Khalifa Almarar, “the need for concerted regional support to reach a sustainable political settlement in Yemen that can secure a future of lasting peace, security and development.”

Also in the UAE, the envoy met with deputy head of the Presidential Leadership Council Aidarous al-Zubaidi.

They tackled efforts aimed at improving living conditions in Yemen and launching inter-Yemeni dialogue to reach a permanent solution to the conflict.

Grundberg had carried out a tour of the region, visiting Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen. He also visited Russia. His efforts focused on renewing the nationwide truce that expired in October.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued a strong condemnation of the recent storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by an extremist Israeli minister and settlers, denouncing it as a deliberate provocation and a violation of UN resolutions.

The OIC also condemned the escalating Israeli attacks on humanitarian, medical, and journalistic personnel in Gaza, citing the massacre at an UNRWA clinic in Jabalia camp, where 19 civilians, including nine children, were killed, and the execution of aid workers in Rafah, the Saudi Press Agency said on Thursday.
The OIC described Israel’s acts as war crimes demanding accountability under international law. It urged the UN Security Council to compel Israel to cease its violations of holy sites and its campaign of genocide, forced displacement, and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians.
