Saudi Arabia Says Eid al-Fitr to Start Friday

The Shawwal crescent was spotted in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, meaning the first day of Eid al-Fitr will be on Friday.

The Saudi Supreme Court confirmed the sighting and announced Friday as the beginning of Eid.

Eid celebrations follow the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, sent on Thursday a cable of congratulations to Joseph Aoun on his election as Lebanon's President and on taking the constitutional oath.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed his wishes for  Aoun's success and for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Lebanon.

For his part, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is also the Saudi Prime Minister, sent a cable of congratulations to Aoun, extending his wishes for his success and for the continued progress and prosperity of the Lebanese people.
