The performance indicators of Saudia Airlines and Flynas revealed an increase in air traffic by more than 22.7 million local and international passengers, during the first half of 2023.
More than 13.7 million passengers took Saudia for domestic and international flights during the first half of this year, while the number of Flynas passengers during the same period exceeded five million.
According to Saudia’s performance report, these figures represented a 24 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022. This feat was accomplished through the operation of 85,400 flights, reflecting a growth rate of 6 percent.
Flight hours surged by 22 percent, reaching a total of 261,600 hours. The overall flight punctuality rate reached 86.3 per cent.
International flights recorded a 52 percent increase in the number of passengers transported during the first half of 2023, with a total of 7.4 million. Moreover, the airline operated 37,600 international flights, marking a significant 30 percent growth.
Capt. Ibrahim Koshy, CEO of Saudia, highlighted the outstanding flight operations, punctuality rates, and guest transportation achieved during this period.
He also stressed the important role of the airline in supporting the growth of the tourism, business, Hajj and Umrah sectors through strategic partnerships.
For its part, Flynas announced on Sunday an increase of its revenues during the first half of 2023 by 46 percent, compared to the same period last year.
According to the airline, the number of passengers rose by 26 percent to about 5 million passengers, and the seat capacity increased by 19 percent, supported by the growth in the size of the aircraft fleet by 19 percent, to reach 51 aircraft.
Bandar Al-Muhanna, CEO and Managing Director of Flynas, said that the growth figures came as a result of the expansion plans launched by the company since the beginning of the year.
