Saudi Arabia’s Investment Minister Eng. Khalid Al-Falih revealed that the Kingdom’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has surged by an extraordinary 66% in the last seven years.
This remarkable growth can be directly attributed to the ambitious Vision 2030 initiative that was launched to drive the nation’s economic progress.
Speaking at the Saudi-Brazilian Investment Forum held in Sao Paulo on Monday, Al-Falih revealed Saudi Arabia’s plan to produce 500,000 electric vehicles, necessitating substantial investments in batteries and critical minerals.
Al-Falih also announced the intent of both Saudi Arabia and Brazil to sign 26 memoranda of understanding to support investment and trade.
He highlighted that the bilateral trade volume between the two countries reached $8 billion in the past year, showing a significant 44% increase compared to 2021.
The minister extended an invitation to all major Brazilian companies to explore the current investment opportunities available in the Kingdom.
He emphasized that both nations can engage in joint investment cooperation, particularly in areas like food security, tourism, and supply chains.
Al-Falih underscored that his country stands as the largest exporter of goods to Brazil among Arab countries, adding that both Saudi Arabia and Brazil share a common aspiration to achieve carbon neutrality and reduce emissions.
Heading a high-level Saudi delegation, which included government entities, national companies, and private sector representatives, Al-Falih embarked on an official visit to Latin America on Monday.
Besides Brazil, he is scheduled to visit Chile, Costa Rica, Argentina, Panama, Paraguay, and Uruguay. He will conclude his visit on August 9.
The primary objectives of the visit are to strengthen investment relations and review the existing strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and these nations, as well as explore unprecedented opportunities available in various sectors in the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia’s Investment Ministry had organized the Saudi-Brazilian Investment Forum, with the participation of several officials, CEOs of major companies, and private sector representatives from both countries.
The main objective was to enhance investment relations across various sectors.
The forum's sessions discussed investment opportunities in mining, food manufacturing, agriculture, transportation and logistics services, healthcare, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. The event also shed light on the potential for partnerships between investors from both nations.
Throughout his trip, Al-Falih and the accompanying delegation will hold numerous meetings and roundtable discussions with companies to explore opportunities to strengthen and deepen investment partnerships.
This visit is an extension of previous tours organized by the Ministry of Investment to several Caribbean, Latin American, and South American countries to bolster investment relations with the region.
It highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to boosting communication with nations across the globe.
