Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi submitted his candidacy papers for the upcoming presidential elections to the National Elections Authority (NEA).

On Saturday, the head of Sisi's election campaign, Mahmoud Fawzy, submitted the nomination papers, accompanied by members of the campaign team carrying large numbers of boxes filled with notarial endorsement forms.

Fawzy said during a press conference that the campaign will follow the electoral standards and adhere to the provisions of the Constitution and the law.

He announced that Sisi's campaign launched an official social media page and is currently working on launching a website to show all campaign activities and promote the presidential candidate's vision.

Fawzy pointed out that the campaign will hold popular meetings and field tours in the Egyptian governorates.

Regarding the issues facing other candidates, Fawzy said they were not part of the Egyptian state's agencies and were not responsible for issuing statements.

He asserted their complete confidence in the impartiality of the institutions, indicating that the National Elections Authority is ready to receive every complainant.

Director of the executive branch of NEA Ahmed Bandari said that the Sisi's agent and legal representative submitted 424 parliamentarian endorsements and over 1.1 million citizens endorsements.

Bandari noted that the Authority is currently examining the endorsement forms, and their exact number will be announced.

Potential candidates must secure endorsements from at least 20 MPs or 25,000 citizens from at least 15 governorates, with a minimum of 1,000 endorsements from each governorate. In all cases, supporting up to one candidate is only permissible.

Meanwhile, some potential opposition candidates once again complained about what they described as "constraints" on those willing to issue endorsements in their support. In this context, supporters of the potential candidate Tantawi clarified that they "were unable to issue endorsements."

Just a few days ago, the election campaign for the potential candidate, Farid Zahran, the head of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, pointed to the "tightening" affecting all candidates in issuing support endorsements.

Also, three potential nominees announced their candidacy; Head of the People's Republican Party (PRP) Hazem Omar, Leader of Wafd Party Abdel-Sanad Yamama, Head of al-Dustour Party Jamila Ismail, and Director of the Democratic Peace Party Ahmad al-Fadli.

The Authority announced that Egyptians would start voting abroad between December 1 and 3 and inside Egypt between December 10 and 12.

Public notary offices nationwide have received citizens seeking to issue endorsements for potential candidates since 25 September and will continue doing so through 14 October.

The European Union on Monday condemned new Israeli measures to tighten control of the West Bank and pave the way for more settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, AFP reported.

"The European Union condemns recent decisions by Israel's security cabinet to expand Israeli control in the West Bank. This move is another step in the wrong direction," EU spokesman Anouar El Anouni told journalists.

The atrocities unleashed on El-Fasher in Sudan's Darfur region last October were a "preventable human rights catastrophe", the United Nations said Monday, warning they now risked being repeated in the neighbouring Kordofan region.

"My office sounded the alarm about the risk of mass atrocities in the besieged city of El-Fasher for more than a year ... but our warnings were ignored," UN rights chief Volker Turk told the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

He added that he was now "extremely concerned that these violations and abuses may be repeated in the Kordofan region".

The General Secretariat of the Arab League strongly condemned decisions by Israeli occupation authorities to impose fundamental changes on the legal and administrative status of the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the West Bank, describing them as a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international law, international legitimacy resolutions, and signed agreements, SPA reported.

In a statement, the Arab League said the measures include facilitating the confiscation of private Palestinian property and transferring planning and licensing authorities in the city of Hebron and the area surrounding the Ibrahimi Mosque to occupation authorities.

It warned of the serious repercussions of these actions on the rights of the Palestinian people and on Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The statement reaffirmed the Arab League’s firm support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
