Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, underscored on Monday Saudi Arabia’s support to the Palestinian people as they pursue their right to live a dignified life, reach their hopes and aspirations and achieve fair and lasting peace.
Crown Prince Mohammed held telephone talks with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to discuss the military escalation in Gaza and its surroundings.
They discussed the dire conditions that are putting the lives of civilians at risk and threatening the security and stability of the region.
During the telephone call he received from Abbas, Crown Prince Mohammed stressed that Saudi Arabia was exerting all possible efforts to communicate with all international and regional parties to end the current escalation and prevent its spread to the region.
He underlined the need to commit to international humanitarian law and protect civilians.
For his part, Abbas briefed Crown Prince Mohammed on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, reported Palestinian state news agency Wafa.
He expressed his deep gratitude to Saudi Arabia, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed for their constant support to the Palestinian people and their just cause.
Jordan’s royal court said King Abdullah stressed to Crown Prince Mohammed the need to reach a political resolution to the Palestinian cause to establish just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution and that would ensure that the Palestinian people secure their legitimate rights.
The Egyptian presidency said Crown Prince Mohammed and Sisi emphasized “the need for restraint during their critical time.” They called for all sides to “return to reason and calm and prevent the situation from escalating further and spiraling out of control.”
A spokesman for the presidency said the leaders agreed to continue consultations and coordination between Saudi Arabia and Egypt to consolidate the Arab stance on the Palestinian cause.
The stance calls for achieving a comprehensive and fair settlement based on the two-state solution and international resolutions. This demands immediate calm and an end to military confrontations on all fronts.
