Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi stressed on Saturday the need for urgent and immediate international intervention to secure a ceasefire, put an end to all forms of military escalation against civilians, and avoid a humanitarian catastrophe in the Palestinian territories.
He underscored the importance of concerted international efforts to stop the collective punishment exercised by the Israeli army, which deprives the people of Gaza of basic living requirements.
It considered the Israeli military measures a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law, and further aggravates the situation in the Middle East region.
Al-Budaiwi renewed his call to find a political solution to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate right to establish a state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
