Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), has opened the Middle East Forum 2023 in Riyadh.
The forum, organized by Peace and Sport organization in cooperation with the SOPC, is being held at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter on October 18 and 19.
During the inauguration, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki said the Kingdom, which holds a pioneering position in the global sports scene, is always keen to contribute to developing sports and spreading peace.
Saudi Arabia works to achieve this by hosting mega sports events that are attended by diverse athletes and fans, the minister added.
He noted that the Saudi leadership’s support in holding the event embodies its keenness to spread the messages of love and promote concepts of peace across the world.
Attending the forum, Prince Albert II of Monaco said that sports have a unique and remarkable mission to bring people together for a common cause.
Sports also have the mission to empower communities to get their relations back and help people to maintain resilience, he added.
The forum discussed a number of sports topics, including the correct means to link sports more closely with peace.
Global sports figures attended the forum, which saw the holding of the 2023 awards ceremony of Peace and Sport organization on its first day.
