Spokesperson for the United Nations Stephane Dujarric confirmed that Saudi Arabia has played a constructive role in ending the conflict in Gaza and finding a political solution for peace.

The spokesperson for the United Nations, Stephane Dujarric, confirmed that Saudi Arabia has played a constructive role in ending the conflict in Gaza and finding a political solution for peace, SPA said on Saturday.
He said that this was achieved through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the ministerial committee that emerged from the joint Arab-Islamic summit meeting held recently in Riyadh, along with other members of the committee.
In an interview with the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dujarric said that the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, has been meeting regularly with the ministerial committee, as well as the Arab group and the Organization of the Islamic Conference. They have been working to end the conflict and find a political solution through diplomatic means, he said.
Dujarric further added that the Secretary-General has been pushing for a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons, and our focus is now on providing humanitarian aid, with more than 100 trucks entering Gaza daily.
On the political side, he said that they are continuing their contacts with both the Israelis and the Palestinians, as well as the countries of the region, through their special coordinator in Jerusalem, Tor Wennesland.
Regarding UN reforms, Dujarric said that the Secretary-General has called for reforming the UN Security Council's working mechanism to make it more representative of the world in 2023, as opposed to 1945. This, he said, is necessary to enhance the credibility and effectiveness of the UN's work, especially in addressing global challenges through diplomatic means.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
