Egypt continues to receive Palestinians wounded in the Israel-Hamas war for treatment in hospitals and ensures the flow of aid to the Gaza Strip.
A security source in North Sinai said on Tuesday that 87 aid trucks crossed into the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing.
The source added, according to the Middle East News Agency in Egypt, that the Rafah crossing received Tuesday more than 140 dual nationals and 20 injured Palestinians from Gaza hospitals for treatment in Egypt.
Al-Azhar confirmed that its fourth relief convoy crossed from Rafah into the Gaza Strip, which includes 50 trucks carrying about one thousand tons of medical supplies, food, water, and livelihood products.
On Monday, about 80 humanitarian and medical aid trucks and five fuel trucks entered the Strip through Rafah.
The Egyptian Red Crescent announced Sunday that 180 humanitarian and medical aid trucks have crossed from the Rafah crossing.
Meanwhile, Cairo is preparing the first relief camp in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
The Egyptian Red Crescent announced it would continue to work with the Palestinian Red Crescent to complete the camp preparation to accommodate 6,000 displaced persons.
An informed source in the Egyptian Red Crescent confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat that the Khan Yunis camp will contain in the first phase 300 tents, and the capacity will be expanded later to reach a thousand tents to accommodate hundreds of displaced families.
Egypt is intensifying its efforts to restore the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Cairo earlier reiterated its close coordination with international parties supporting peace to reach a complete ceasefire that preserves the lives of Palestinian civilians and reduces the impact of the humanitarian crisis on Gaza residents.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will hold discussions on Wednesday with two delegations from the US Senate and House of Representatives, headed by Joni Ernst, regarding developments in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Shoukry agreed with his US counterpart, Antony Blinken, in a phone call, their rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
According to Egypt’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Abu Zeid, Shoukry highlighted the importance of working to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Last month, Shoukry visited Washington and indicated during his meetings the need to intensify international efforts to reach a complete and sustainable ceasefire, protect civilian lives, and remove obstacles that prevent humanitarian aid from entering the sector adequately and sustainably.
Furthermore, Russia's ambassador to Cairo, Georgy Borisenko, stressed the importance of Egypt's pivotal role in the current conflict in Gaza, as it plays the role of mediation between Palestine and Israel, as well as its essential role in delivering humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.
Borisenko pointed out that Egypt is making significant efforts to overcome the current problems and find a political and diplomatic solution.
