Iran-backed groups fired two missiles at the biggest American base in Syria, Al-Omar oil field.
A UK-based war monitor, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported the incident but hasn’t provided information on human casualties or the extent of damage.
Meanwhile, in a separate strike, believed to be Israeli, two farms near Sayyida Zainab near Damascus were targeted.
The Observatory reported eight casualties, including two Syrians – one linked to an Iranian Revolutionary Guard officer, and two Syrian security personnel guarding the farms.
After the US base in eastern Syria was targeted, warplanes and helicopters filled the skies above the base and Deir Ezzor’s outskirts.
Simultaneously, Iranian-backed militias adjusted their positions along the Euphrates River, from Al-Bukamal to Al-Mayadeen in eastern Deir Ezzor.
The Observatory reported that these militias vacated about 12 sites in Al-Bukamal and Al-Mayadeen, relocating to alternative positions.
This move may be in response to the recent attack on a US military base near the Syrian border, resulting in the death of three US soldiers and injuries to 34 others.
On Sunday, the Observatory reported four US helicopters over the American base at the Conoco gas plant in Deir Ezzor.
Simultaneously, two cargo planes landed.
US bases in Syria have endured 106 attacks since October 19, 2023, by Iran-backed militias across Iraq and Syria.
Notable targets include Al-Omar oil field and Conoco gas plant bases.
Tensions persist as military activity and repositioning continue in the region.
