Saudi national taekwondo athlete Donia Abu Taleb officially qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics in the 49-kg weight category, making her the first Saudi female athlete to obtain a direct qualification ticket to the Olympics after passing through the Asian qualifiers.
Abu Taleb's outstanding performance in all matches during the qualifying rounds secured her qualification. Her achievement is added to the series of advanced results she has attained at the Asian and global levels, including her nomination for the bronze medal globally and in Asia from 2022-2023, SPA reported.
The president of the Saudi Taekwondo Federation, Brigadier General Shaddad Al-Omari, expressed his pride in Donia's qualification for the Olympics. This, he said, confirms the high performance of the Saudi taekwondo athletes during their participation abroad.
He also stressed that their next goal is to achieve the best results and compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
