Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak stressed to Asharq Al-Awsat that he found understanding of his government’s needs and positions after meeting with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman in Jeddah on Thursday.
The PM said the government was focusing on easing the suffering of the Yemeni people, achieving administrative and financial reform, combating corruption and developing institutions.
“With our partnership with Saudi Arabia, we will not be alone in confronting challenges,” he added.
For his part, Prince Khalid underscored the Kingdom’s unyielding support to the Yemeni government and people to meet their aspirations.
In a post on the X platform, he said the meeting with bin Mubarak discussed the political process between Yemeni parties.
The PM said his visit to the Kingdom was positive and fruitful. He added that he discussed with Prince Khalid the strong fraternal relations between their countries, economic challenges facing Yemen and the escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in the Red Sea and its impact on the peace process.
“Saudi Arabia has always stood by our side, and it has never delayed in supporting Yemen, especially during these extraordinary circumstances,” he went on to say.
