Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development is committed to empowering orphans to build their future.
Through a range of rehabilitation services, career paths, and training programs, the ministry aims to help orphans develop and become self-sufficient, in line with the ministry's strategy and the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry outlined its commitment to supporting shelters, foster families, and non-profit organizations, as well as carrying out comprehensive programs that cater to orphans' needs throughout their lives, including upbringing and education, training, employment, housing, and even marriage.
Universities have a 100% acceptance rate of orphans in majors in demand by the job market. They offer scholarships and tuition fees to all orphan students in private universities.
Regarding employment, the ministry has found over 600 jobs for orphans in the past two years, aiming to secure employment stability for them.
The ministry also focuses on training; 3,261 orphans have received on-the-job training.
The ministry also secured over 90 furnished housing units for orphans. Aftercare support is also provided.
The marriage rate among orphans has seen a significant rise, reaching 30%, after the ministry addressed material and psychological obstacles and provided the necessary rehabilitation. This reflects the ministry's goal of achieving full orphan empowerment and social integration.
The ministry prioritizes improved services and giving a role to the non-profit sector in this field.
Over 30 agreements and memoranda of understanding have recently been signed with educational and training institutions, as well as with the private sector, to empower orphans and help them become productive members of society who contribute to the nation's development.
