Former US President Donald Trump again threatened to prosecute his political opponents if he’s elected to a second term this fall.
Trump, who was convicted in New York last week on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, said the Biden administration has “rigged” the trial against him.
Trump has long considered sending former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to prison.
In an interview with Newsmax that aired Tuesday evening, the President returned to the subject, saying, “Wouldn’t it be terrible to throw the president’s wife and the former secretary of state ... into jail?”
He added, “Wouldn’t that be a terrible thing, but they want to do it. So, you know, it's a terrible, terrible path that they're leading us to.”
Legal experts warned on Thursday that, “Simply making those threats does real damage to the rule of law” in the country.
