The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, met with Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, on Saturday on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The two officials explored the GCC-Iran relations and deliberated on pathways to enhance collaboration for the mutual benefit of their nations.

They also underscored the importance of recent regional and international developments, reiterating their shared commitment to fostering stability and security in the region and beyond.

Oman FM Says Success in US-Iran Talks May Require 'Painful Concessions'

Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi on Sunday called for more talks between Iran and the US and for the ceasefire to be extended, hours after negotiations failed to reach a deal during a high-stakes meeting in Pakistan.

"I urge that the ceasefire be extended and talks continue," Al-Busaidi wrote in a post on X.

"Success may require everyone to make painful concessions, but this is nothing as compared to the pain of failure and war."

The two sides discussed several topics, most notably the relations between the GCC and Argentina, and ways to develop and strengthen them to serve mutual interests, according to SPA.

The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues.
