Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi landed on Tuesday in the Irish capital on the third and last leg of his European tour that included Denmark and Norway.
In Dublin, Sisi is set to meet with the Irish president and the prime minister to discuss available opportunities to promote cooperation between both countries and coordinate stances on international issues and crises of mutual interest, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shenawy said.
Scores of the Egyptian community's members in Ireland and some European countries welcomed Sisi after he arrived at his residence in Dublin, the official Egyptian news agency, MENA, said.
They chanted “Long Live Egypt,” raised Sisi's posters and hoisted Egypt's flag, expressing joy at the president's historic visit to the country.
Before leaving Norway on Monday, the Egyptian President attended a dinner banquet with Crown Prince Haakon and the Minister of International Development, in the presence of senior executives from Norwegian companies and economic and investment funds.
In a speech delivered at the dinner, Sisi praised the fruitful discussions with the King of Norway, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, and the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense, where he said there was a convergence of views on the two countries’ keenness to deepen bilateral cooperation politically, economically, and culturally.
“The Egyptian government has adopted an ambitious plan to improve the investment climate and strengthen the role of the private sector in driving economic development,” Sisi said. “This is being implemented through providing incentives and facilitations for foreign investors and removing any obstacles they may face.”
The President then affirmed that throughout all his meetings in Norway, he emphasized the importance of enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
“I highlighted the great importance the Egyptian government attaches to attracting foreign direct investment to the Egyptian market, which offers numerous opportunities across various vital sectors of mutual interest, such as energy including traditional, new, renewable, and green sources, transport, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, and information and communications technology,” he said.
Sisi then invited all Norwegian companies and investment funds to increase their presence in the Egyptian market and to build on the existing successes of cooperation between several major Norwegian companies and the Egyptian side.
