Saudi boxer Yara Al-Omari has made history by winning the first-ever women's Asian medal for Saudi Arabia in boxing. She secured a bronze medal in the 52 kg category at the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championship, held in Bangkok, Thailand.
President of the Saudi Boxing Federation Eng. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Harbi expressed pride in this historic achievement, attributing it to the significant support Saudi sports receive from the wise leadership, as well as the continuous guidance and oversight of Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal.
“Empowering Saudi women in sports is a top priority for the Saudi Boxing Federation, and this achievement represents the first fruit of the federation's programs and the beginning of a series of future successes that will raise the Kingdom's flag high in continental and international forums,” Al-Harbi said.
He emphasized the federation’s commitment to implementing its strategy to develop female talent and support their active participation in international competitions. The goal, he noted, is to secure further accomplishments that enhance Saudi Arabia’s position on the global sports stage.
Meanwhile, Al-Omari stated that this milestone serves as a significant motivation for her and her teammates to strive for more successes in future competitions.
