Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz held talks in Washington on Tuesday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The officials reviewed the historic Saudi-American relations and the shared vision of both nations in addressing common challenges to help achieve international security and peace. They also discussed several issues of mutual interest.
This was Prince Khalid’s first visit to the United States since President Donald Trump returned to office for a second term in January.
In a post on the X platform, Prince Khalid said he discussed with Rubio “the longstanding Saudi-US relations” and “our common vision to overcome shared challenges and promote international peace and security.”
He also met with US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz. “We reviewed the Saudi-US strategic relations and explored opportunities to strengthen our bilateral cooperation. We also discussed our shared efforts to advance regional and global peace,” said Prince Khalid.
Upon his arrival in the US, Prince Khalid also met with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to “reaffirm the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between our countries.”
“During the meeting, we explored ways to bolster our defense cooperation. We also discussed regional and international developments and efforts to promote security and stability,” he added.
