Qatar stressed on Wednesday its support for a peaceful solution to the crisis between Russia and Ukraine through dialogue and diplomacy.
Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received in Doha Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for talks on the latest regional and international developments.
Lavrov also met with Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on regional developments, especially the situation in Gaza where Doha has been a mediator in the prisoner and hostage swap between Israel and Hamas.
They also tackled the developments in Lebanon, Syria and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
A statement from the Qatari Foreign Ministry said Sheikh Mohammed reiterated Doha’s support for international efforts aimed at reaching a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis through dialogue and diplomacy.
Sheikh Tamim and Lavrov also discussed means to bolster cooperation between their countries, especially in energy and investment, said Qatar’s state news agency (QNA).
Lavrov revealed that Qatar and the Russian Direct Investment Fund were studying future projects worth over a billion dollars.
Lavrov had arrived in Qatar on Tuesday on an official visit.
