Saudi Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy Ambassador Rayed Krimly categorically denied claims published by The Wall Street Journal regarding demands the Houthi militia had made of Saudi Arabia, describing them as "baseless".

In a post on X, Krimly said on Thursday the report was entirely baseless and had been fabricated by the article's authors or their alleged sources.

He said the Houthis had staged a coup against Yemen's government, brought about famine among the Yemeni people, and dragged the country into conflicts and agendas that served neither Yemen nor its population.

Krimly added that the Houthis had attacked commercial shipping in Red Sea waterways, targeted civilian and economic infrastructure, and rejected all peace efforts.

The Saudi official also reminded the article's authors that Yemen has an internationally recognized government.
