President Donald Trump in a speech in Saudi Arabia urged Iran to take a “new and a better path” as he pushes for a new nuclear deal.

Trump said at the US-Saudi investment conference, during a four-day Middle East trip, that he wants to avoid conflict with Tehran.

“As I have shown repeatedly, I am willing to end past conflicts and forge new partnerships for a better and more stable world, even if our differences may be profound,” Trump said.

The comments came as Trump kick off the Middle East trip on Tuesday with his visit to Saudi capital. The latest entreaty to Tehran comes days after Trump dispatched his special envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with Iranian officials for a fourth round of talks aimed at persuading Iran to abandon its nuclear program.

“As President of the United States, my preference will always be for peace and partnership, whenever those outcomes can be achieved,” Trump said.

Police on Friday began moving hundreds of migrants from the beaches of Ceuta to the Spanish enclave's port area.

During the transfer, the police struggled to contain crowds of people jostling to secure a spot at the new tented site after weeks of living on the beaches, AFP said.

Tens of thousands of migrants flooded across the border from Morocco in July and though most returned, several thousand remained.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said Friday they struck an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, according to state news agency IRNA, as a British maritime agency also reported an attack.

Iran has maintained its stranglehold on the strategic strait as Washington continues pressing its counterblockade of Iranian ports during the Middle East war, said AFP.

The Iranian republic wants to charge ships for passage, attacking vessels it accuses of attempting to circumvent its preferred route.

"The Togo-flagged oil tanker 'Trend' had been targeted and detained after a fire broke out on board" late on Thursday, the statement said, calling it an attempted "illegal passage".

Early on Friday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said a ship was hit by an "unknown projectile", causing a fire that was extinguished.

The monitoring agency had also reported a "security incident" in Hormuz late on Thursday, without giving details.

It was unclear if the IRGC and UKMTO reports referred to the same incident.

Turkish ‌authorities jailed four people pending trial and imposed travel bans and asset restrictions on 51 others on Friday in investigations into alleged market manipulation, a day after authorities rolled out measures to support markets after recent volatility.

The investigation followed a ‌criminal complaint ‌by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) ‌over ⁠alleged manipulative transactions in ⁠some investment funds and shares, Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said.

Turkish authorities did not name the people affected.

The four jailed suspects included a fund ⁠board chairman and board members, ‌Gurlek said, ‌adding that the court ordered restrictions ‌on accounts and assets to ‌prevent them from being transferred.

The announcement came a day after authorities moved to shore up financial stability after ‌a small number of funds struggled to meet client ⁠withdrawals ⁠amid a stock market selloff.

The capital markets board ordered liquidation of several investment funds worth around $18.3 billion managed by seven portfolio management companies.

Authorities also launched proceedings against people accused of using social media to manipulate capital markets, with 16 suspects jailed pending trial, the minister said.
