Apple has submitted a bid worth at least $150 million a year for the US rights to stream Formula 1 races starting in 2026, Business Insider reported on Friday, citing a source familiar with the negotiations.

The iPhone-maker is poised to win the rights as the leading bidder, the report said, as Walt Disney's ESPN, which currently holds the rights, will not try to match or beat it.

Apple declined a Reuters request for comment, while F1 and its owner Liberty Media did not immediately respond.

The news follows Apple's success with its "F1: The Movie" film starring Brad Pitt, that has grossed over $300 million worldwide as of Friday, according to IMDb's Box Office Mojo.

ESPN holds the US broadcast rights for these races through the year's season, though Reuters has reported in February that its exclusivity period to negotiate a new contract with F1 has expired.

Kate, the Princess of Wales, visited Wimbledon on Thursday in her latest public appearance since announcing her cancer was in remission, The Associated Press reported.

As the patron of the All England Club, Kate last year was at Centre Court on consecutive days to present the winners’ trophies to singles champions Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner.

In May, the 44-year-old Kate traveled to Italy for a two-day tour focused on early childhood education. The trip was part of what her office called a “fact-finding mission” to explore different approaches to supporting young children and their carers.

The princess, who spent a gap year in Florence when she was younger, spoke a few words of Italian to a group of preschool children, introducing herself as Caterina.

A year ago, Kate offered consoling words to women's runner-up Amanda Anisimova after a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Swiatek.

In 2024, while recovering from cancer, Kate did not attend the women’s final but was on hand for Carlos Alcaraz’s win over Novak Djokovic at the All England Club.

Veteran Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani has announced his departure from Boca Juniors after three years.

The 39-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli and Manchester United player joined the Argentine side in July 2023 from Valencia.

"As a coach of mine once taught me, the journey is the reward. And the journey has been magnificent," Cavani said in a video posted on his Instagram account without announcing his retirement from club football.

Known as "El Matador," Cavani is Uruguay's second all-time leading scorer with 58 goals in 136 appearances before calling time on his international football career two years ago.

According to AFP, he leaves Boca without having won a title there and acknowledged he had "difficult moments" that prevented him from "leaving a mark" on the club.

Hampered by recurring injuries, he played 81 matches, completing the full 90 minutes in just 27 of them, while scoring 28 goals.

Cavani won six Ligue 1 titles with PSG during a seven-year spell from 2013 to 2020 before moving to Manchester United where he played for two years.

The Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF) and Pakistan Cricket Board have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Riyadh to develop a cricket stadium in Jeddah.

The signing of the MoU on Wednesday took place in the presence of SACF Chairman Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Mohammad and Pakistan's Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Mohsin Naqvi.

The MoU aims to develop cricket infrastructure in Saudi Arabia by constructing a modern cricket stadium that meets international standards.

It also provides for cooperation in exchanging technical expertise, facility planning, and adopting best operational practices to enhance the Kingdom's readiness to host international tournaments and competitions, while supporting the growth of the sport in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
