Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi expressed his strong condemnation of the statements issued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Israel's control of parts of sovereign Arab states. He slammed the remarks as a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, as well as a blatant attack on the sovereignty of states and the unity of their lands.
Albudaiwi stressed that such dangerous statements and plans represent a direct threat to regional and international security and stability, while clearly revealing the dangerous approach pursued by the occupation authorities. He underscored the categorical rejection of the GCC countries of any attempts to undermine the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab countries.
The GCC secretary-general called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stand to stop these provocative statements and plans. He called for protecting the region from any measures that would fuel tensions and undermine the chances of achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
Netanyahu, in remark to i24 News on Wednesday, had said that he was “very” attached to the vision of a Greater Israel. He did not elaborate, but supporters of the idea believe that Israel should control not only the occupied West Bank but parts of Arab countries.
