Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at NEOM Palace on Thursday.
The leaders reviewed the close relations between their countries and discussed ways to deepen cooperation in various fields. The talks also covered key regional issues, with a focus on the situation in Palestine.
Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of State, Cabinet Member, and National Security Adviser Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban, President of General Intelligence Presidency Khalid Al-Humaidan, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty and other officials attended the meeting.
Egyptian Presidency Spokesman Mohamed al-Shennawy said the leaders held in-depth discussions about several issues related to bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international developments.
They tackled Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza in coordination with other parties.
Sisi underscored Cairo’s support of Saudi initiatives aimed at resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the latest of which were the outcomes of the High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution that was held in New York in July. The meeting was co-chaired by Riyadh and Paris.
Crown Prince Mohammed and Sisi stressed the need to speed up the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, the release of hostages and prisoners, and the rejection of any attempt to forcibly displace the Palestinians from their land or Israel’s re-occupation of Gaza.
They also stressed the need for an end to Israeli practices against Palestinians in occupied West Bank, said Shennawy.
The leaders underlined their determination to maintain coordination and joint consultations, especially amid the rapid developments taking place in the Middle East.
Sisi had arrived in NEOM earlier on Thursday where he was received by Crown Prince Mohammed at the airport.
