The Muslim World League (MWL) extended on Monday its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and injured, and to the Afghan people, following the earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan.
In a statement by its General Secretariat, MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa expressed the league’s solidarity with the Afghan people during this tragedy.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant mercy to the deceased, a speedy recovery to the injured, and to protect Afghanistan and its people from all harm and misfortune.
One of Afghanistan's worst earthquakes killed more than 800 people and injured at least 2,800, authorities said on Monday, as rescuers struggled to reach remote areas due to rough mountainous terrain and inclement weather.
