Saudi Arabia strongly condemned on Tuesday the “heinous” Israeli attack on Qatar.
It stressed its complete solidarity with the country, saying it places all of its capabilities to support it and all the measures it takes to maintain its security.
It warned of the severe consequences of Israel’s continued “criminal violations” and its “flagrant violations of international laws and all international norms.”
The Kingdom called on the international community to condemn the attack and “put an end to the Israeli violations that undermine regional security and stability.”
Israel launched a strike targeting Hamas’ leadership in Qatar, further widening its campaign against the group.
Hamas said in a statement that all of its leaders survived the attack but that five lower-ranked members were killed. Qatar said a member of its Internal Security Force died and others were wounded in the attack.
Qatar has served as a key negotiator in efforts to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, and it was unclear if the attack would stall those efforts.
Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah later held a phone call with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to express the Kingdom’s solidarity with Doha.
He underlined its condemnation of the Israeli attack, saying it was a criminal act and a flagrant violation of international laws and norms.
The Kingdom is deploying all its capabilities to support Qatar in any measures it may take to safeguard its security and preserve its sovereignty, he stressed.
Prince Faisal later held separate telephone talks with Egyptian FM Dr. Badr Abdelatty and Jordanian FM Ayman Safadi.
They discussed the Israeli attack and emphasized the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities to put an end to the Israeli actions that undermine security and stability in the region.
