Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, directed on Tuesday that a major street in Riyadh be named after late Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh, who served as head of the Council of Senior Scholars.
The directive comes in recognition of the late Saudi grand mufti’s scholarly stature and his significant contributions to the service of the nation, Islam, and Muslims.
The Royal Court announced his death last week.
The late grand mufti devoted his life to the pursuit and teaching of Islamic jurisprudence, guiding people, and making notable academic and practical contributions that greatly advanced the role of religious scholarship and education.
