Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi strongly condemned the dangerous escalation in the storming of the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli officials and settlers under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.
Albudaiwi stressed that these provocative practices represent a flagrant violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, a blatant assault on the emotions of Muslims, and an attempt to impose a Judaizing reality on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
He added that the move is a clear transgression of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
The secretary-general reiterated the GCC’s categorical rejection of Israel’s attempts to change the existing historical and legal status in Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem. He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop these repeated violations and protect Islamic holy sites from all forms of tampering and provocation.
