Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah stressed on Sunday the Kingdom's commitment to continue working with the G20 to bolster a more inclusive, just and sustainable economic system based on cooperation, innovation and equal opportunity to serve joint prosperity and protect future generations.
He was speaking on behalf of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the second day of the G20 summit in Johannesburg.
He praised South Africa’s presidency of the G20 and its efforts in developing the strategic outcomes to this year’s summit that will allow member states to maintain their efforts in facing challenges.
Prince Faisal said it was pressing to ensure fairness in accessing vital resources and investing them in a way that boosts economic growth and achieves balance between development and protecting the environment. He noted the world’s rapid shift towards the green economy and clean technology.
Saudi Arabia views artificial intelligence as a major element in speeding up innovation and improving the sound use of resources and bolstering sustainability in various fields, Prince Faisal declared.
Such an approach demands dialogue, cooperation, collective work, respect for international laws and the protection of consumers and intellectual property, leading to the development of a just and comprehensive system of governance, he added.
The second day of the summit focused on vital minerals and AI. It was attended by Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed al-Jadaan and his deputy and Saudi G20 Sherpa Abdulmuhsen Alkhalaf.
