Kuwait’s State Security arrested on Tuesday a citizen alleged to be affiliated with a terrorist organization and of planning to prepare explosives and attacks against places of worship.
The Kuwaiti suspect is accused of attempting to recruit minors through social media platforms, the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry said in a statement on X.
It said the arrest came as part of ongoing efforts by the ministry to maintain stability, noting that State Security tracked and apprehended the suspect following detailed investigation.
Preliminary findings indicated that the suspect had received directives from leaders of a terrorist organization to prepare explosive materials and plan attacks against places of worship, according to the ministry.
The suspect is accused of attempting to recruit minors through online gaming communities and to promote extremist ideology.
The ministry stressed that security agencies remain vigilant and will take firm action against any individuals who threatens national security or public safety.
It said legal measures will be taken against anyone involved in activities that jeopardize the country’s stability, adding that operations continue around the clock to safeguard the public and uphold the rule of law.
